About Us
Rationale:
The Christian notion of incarnation is holistic and integrative. Jesus Christ came into the world as a whole, integrated person not as a pretended person, A la Clark Kent. Moreover, He was involved in all of life, not just in so called sacred aspects. In his relationships with other persons He took an active interest in the physical, social and emotional well-being of those who He met. Jesus Himself was not divided, nor was His approach to the world.
Vision Statement:
Our vision for the Brunswick Heights SDA Church is to proclaim The Three Angels Messages of Revelation 14:6-12, as it relates to the Second Coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the power of His saving grace, to The City of Gary, Indiana and the surrounding communities. The most outstanding part of The Master was His Incarnation. God sent Jesus to dwell among us. While on earth, Jesus not only taught God’s truth with authority but He lived God’s truth in His own ministry.
Mission:
We take our special mission from The Three Angel's Messages of Revelation 14:6-12. We present the everlasting gospel in the setting of The Great Controversy over the character of God and the judgment. We seek to show how our distinctive teachings speak the truth about God, relative to the Atonement, and The Seventh-Day Sabbath. We learn from the scripture that Jesus took the initiative toward His integration because He was a teacher who had come from God. His saving activities responded to deliberate and well-planned strategies. Christ’s teachings, like His mission, embraced the world. “To the little child, to the impatient youth, to men in strength of years, and to the aged in their weakness and weariness His messages were spoken.” As in the rabbinical tradition, His teaching was without price. He did not discriminate against, or exclude any, on the basis of creed or denomination. To every person in every land in every age His teachings declare “the way, the truth and the life.” John 14:6
Method:
"Christ's method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Saviour mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, "Follow Me." {MH 143.3}. Jesus is the paradigm of integration of faith and learning, we must learn from Him how to integrate. When we read the Gospels, we see Jesus engaged with people, caring for them, supplying for their needs, teaching with love. This makes clearly evident that integration of faith and learning takes place in the realm of relationships, not as an unidirectional effort but as a friendly social intercourse.
About Seventh-day Adventists
Adventists believe a Trinity of three persons--the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit--make up one God. They made salvation possible when Jesus, the Son, came to earth as a baby in Bethlehem and lived a sinless life in accordance with the Father's will. When Jesus was crucified for the sins of the people of the world and arose from the dead on the third day, victory was won for everyone. More >>
